Stuff on Trial

Welcome to a new segment of this blog where bits and pieces of my stuff come up for consideration - should it stay or should it go? You get to vote.

Today's item is a carving set (this one isn't mine, but it's very similar). I don't actually own it yet, but my parents are looking to clean out some of THEIR stuff, and they've offered it to me. Anyway, my grandmother bought this carving set in Thailand about 30 years ago and brought it home. It's pretty cool. I might use it a couple of times a year at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I could use it as a decorative object somewhere, I guess.

On the plus side, it has a certain sentimental significance and the kids think it's cool. On the minus side...well, it's a carving set, LOL.

Should we vote it off the island? What do you think?

I vote no. If you are trying to halve your belongings (love that idea, btw) the last thing you want to do is bring in more stuff. Your description does not lead me to believe there is a strong sentimental attachment to the carving set, so the best thing to do would be to let Mom and Dad find a different home for it.

Another no vote. If you had been pining away for a carving set for months, that would be one thing. But I'm betting that's not the case. :)

Oh, you all are so right. I'm going to leave it behind. Sorry, Grandma!
